Position: Lead SQL DBA
Duration: 6 months (Extendable)
Location : Near Bloomington, IL
Rate: $50-55/hr all inc MAX
EAD / GC / Citizens are preferred (CTH)
Job Description/ Responsibilities: SQL Server resource will provide the following:
1) Provide implementation of SQL Server projects as well as required business support of current SQL Server database environment .
• Provide input to project teams to set realistic milestone target dates
• Install and configure SQL Server databases
• Interface with customers to configure SQL Server and vendor solutions to meet requirements
• Work with customers to validate business needs are met
• Work with application owners on change communications and Scheduling
• Follow established SQL Server technical procedures and provide input on how to improve these procedures and establish missing procedures .
• Deploy services packs/fixes, perform upgrades, provide maintenance and support for numerous Production and pre-Production environments, Independently without reliance on Microsoft support
• Troubleshoot user and system problems and resolve Helpdesk tickets , independently without reliance on Microsoft support
• Interface/communicate with various IT groups to request services , comply with all established change management procedures
• Provide off shift support via on call pager rotation schedule .
• Architect solutions to support database consolidation and centralization of existing applications from remote locations.
• Provide and share technical expertise with the current team.Security Backup & Recovery and Performance tuning
Success Criteria/ Skill Requirements:
• Meet assigned project due dates
• Provide status updates on a weekly basis to SQL Server Supervisor and Team Leader
• Provide status updates to project team lead as needed
• Provide day-to-day SQL Server environment support in accordance to SQL Server standards and best practices.
• Provide knowledge transfer to team on SQL Server best practices
Required_skills_qualifications
• 2 - 3 years experience with MS SQL Server Database Administration for SQL Server versions 2000, 2005 and 2008, includes Standard and Enterprise Editions
• Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience
• Install and configure software
• Perform account management
• Perform data backups and restores
• Work with application and infrastructure groups to resolve issues and implement changes
• Monitor databases
• Managing database performance
• Off-shift support duties are required
• Good project management
Desired_skills_qualifications
• 2 - 3 years experience with MS Windows Server Administration
• ITIL knowledge or experience
• Knowledge of Sarbanes- Oxley processes
