Job Description:
The fast paced and very demanding position requires an operations/networking/UNIX background combined with creative and independent thinking. This includes the ability to analyze complex IP networks utilizing UNIX scripts. Knowledge managing data collection and pushing configuration changes to large scale IP networks via UNIX scripts is a must. An overall understanding of the IP transport principles in a backbone network environment is required. Also required is a strong understanding of emerging technologies in IP networks and network security policies and standards. The candidates are required to assist with developing automation tools and programming rules to manage daily routines.
Candidates applying for these positions will need to possess a very broad technical knowledge and understanding of large scale, LAN/WAN networks. Experience with Cisco and Juniper platforms is desired. Extensive knowledge and capabilities with PERL and shell scripting are a must. The candidate will be required to write scripts that fetch, parse, and load data from and to live network nodes (routers, switches, and Unix/Linux/Windows servers) as well as database and flat file sources. Javascript skills are also desired. A solid background with SQL data manipulation in Oracle, Microsoft SQL, and MySQL environments is a must. UNIX/Linux administration skills required.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a diverse team in a 7x24 environment are required. Some work during night shift maintenance windows will be required.
A Bachelor's degree in related field plus minimum of 3 - 5 years experience is preferred. Equivalent work experience in lieu of Bachelor's degree may be considered. A Cisco CCNA certification (or equivalent: Juniper JNCIA, etc.) is required.
