Title: Linux System Administrator
Location: Monterey, CA
Duration: 12 Months+
Linux System Administrator
This position serves as the primary administrator for high availability Linux servers. You will apply your years of proven experience in managing Linux systems, software, databases, and large storage area network systems in working with software development and other IT personnel to ensure maximum performance and uptime of infrastructure. Requires advanced Linux systems administration, server hardware troubleshooting and repair, networking, storage, performance monitoring and tuning, and scripting languages. Database administration, PHP or LAMP knowledge preferred.
Must Have:
3-5+ years in Linux Administration experience in RedHat and Gentoo Enterprise Linux
Experience with HP hardware installation and configuration including HBA, NIC, Memory and CPU installation and configuration preferably HP D380 servers.
Extensive experiences with LVM2 commands and file systems management
In depth knowledge of the Linux operating system including installation, configuration and end user support. Experience Registering new servers and installing/updating/patching applications using the yum/emerge utilities.
Experience in administering EMC Symmetrix Vmax and Clariion storage including thin and virtual provisioning, experience with FAST automated storage tiers utilizing fiber channel, SATA and flash drives. Zoning administration using Brocade switch technology is also required.
Experience configuring newly provisioned storage to servers on existing file systems as well as for new file systems.
Excellent problem solving skills with a desire to take on responsibility
In depth knowledge of servers/computers hardware and software
Knowledge of clustering, MySQL, network fundamentals, and Shell scripting
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate technical issues to nontechnical and technical audiences
Network fundamentals including troubleshooting and diagnostics utilizing Linux based tool sets
Experience with clustering technologies applied to LINUX. Such as RHCS, LINUX HA, and VCS.
Experience working with SAN attached disk and Solid volume management experience including VMware DataStores
Working knowledge and expertise of virtualization technologies including ESX.
Must be experienced with LINUX patch management process
Must be able to document (level 1 and 2) documentation for incidents and requests.
Experience in managing LAMP environment
Backup and restore using HP Data Protector backup solutions
24/7 Support/on call support rotation experience
Nice to Have:
RedHat Linux Certification
Oracle database Administration basic knowledge, ASM, RAC
