Job Description:
Summary: Application Support Engineer for customer-facing sites and applications
Detail: Working alongside a talented team, you will deploy and support mission-critical web sites and applications for businesses within client, running on Apache, WebLogic, Coherence, JBoss, Tomcat, Perl or PHP platforms. You will also support back-office computing environments on internal networks. Using your years of production experience and excellent communication skills, you will help the team maintain application uptime and coordinate with your counterparts in Server Operations, Database Administration, Storage, and Networking organizations to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
A Qualified Candidate:
· Has extensive production experience supporting and deploying to web application servers such as Oracle WebLogic Server 10, JBoss, and Apache Tomcat server
· Has extensive production experience supporting Apache web server (IIS is a plus)
· Has production experience with Oracle Coherence
· Has experience with JConsole, JProfiler, WLST scripting, JRockit Mission Control
· Can troubleshoot problems quickly, effectively and creatively
· Has the ability to analyze a problem at a system level and determine the root cause at a technical (detailed) level
· Has extensive experience in performance tuning and analysis
· Has strong shell scripting skills
· Has networking experience, especially in DMZ environments
· Has the ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly to solve technical problems
· Has excellent communication skills and produces clear documentation
· Has the ability to interact with non-technical colleagues and communicate in layperson's terms
· Is proficient in Java / Python / other just-in-time compiled language
· Has at least 5 years experience administering UNIX in production environments, and 5 years or more on Red Hat Linux
· Has the ability to self-manage time and multiple constraints in a rapidly changing, high-pressure and complex technical environment
· Has a Bachelors degree in Computer Science and/or related field or equivalent experience
