Position: Sr ETL Test Engineer
Location: Downtown Chicago
Duration: 1 year contract
Personality fit: This is an agile environment, so looking for someone who would be able to work in a team.
Interview process: 30 min phone screen followed by 2 hour onsite interview
Onsite interview is structured in 4 sections (~30 minutes each): interview with manager, interview with team leads, interview with team members, interview with subject matter expert.
Experience on a resume that would get an attention: is someone who has worked with OBI or Cognos in combination with testing experience.
Summary:
Platform is built using Oracle database, Java, Hadoop, and Shell scripting.
This is an excellent opportunity to work hand-in-hand with an energetic and dedicated agile development team performing development and testing activities and demonstrating excellent logic and problem solving skills.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
• Collaboration with development team to ensure testable user stories are created and estimated
• Working with Product Management in determining acceptance criteria for user stories
• Implementing presentation layers using BI tools
• Generating user-friendly reports using BI tools
• Executing a testing process that fits within our Agile development life cycle
• Working closely with development team to identify and resolve issues
• Analyzing, designing and maintaining test artifacts
• Creating and/or setting up test environments and test data
• Developing and executing automated and manual tests
Qualifications
• BS in a technical discipline or equivalent working experience
• 3+ years of test engineering experience
• 2+ years of BI developer experience (OBI or Cognos)
• Solid report report generation skills utilizing BI tools (IBM Cognos, Tableau, Cognos Impromptu or QlikView)
• DB development and Data modeling experience
• Experience working with Data Warehouse
• Experience working with large structured data sets
• Excellent SQL knowledge (Oracle)
• Knowledge of test methodologies and debugging
• Coding skills in Java or Python with scripting skills in at least one common language (Perl, Shell)
• Highly proficient in a Unix/Linux environment
• Strong communication skills
• Must be a team-player with the ability to work within a collaborative environment
• Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle
• Proven ability to work independently with limited supervision
• Creative, resourceful and innovative problem solver
• Self-taught and self-teaching, with a demonstrated aptitude for acquiring knowledge and skills
Highly Desired Skills
• Performance testing a plus
• Excellent knowledge and proven, multi-year experience in Agile/Lean development environments performing testing
