Position : Unix/Linux Administrator

Location: Santa Clara, CA (Need in-person after telephonic)

Duration: Long-term

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

• UNIX/Linux Servers Administration, Configuration, and Maintenance.
• Data Center Production Support -- setup, monitor, and troubleshoot issues.
• Network Administration and Load Balancing using Firewalls, Switches, Load balancers
• SAN/NAS Storage Administration -- HP iSCSI MSA, NAS Gateways.
• Provision, install, configure, and maintain virtualized DEV/QA environments using VMw are ESX(i).
• Installation and Maintenance of software applications -- Apache, JBOSS, PHP, Perl, etc.
• Code Releases of indigenously developed software applications.
• Research and implement long term solutions and standards for various Operations issues.
• Gather and analyze data/logs to investigate problems and determine root causes.
• Collect and examine performance data to aid in capacity planning efforts.
• Participation in planning and execution of load simulations
• Collaboration with various teams and security resources to help maintain and improve infrastructure security
• Automate processes and repetitive tasks.
• Document policies and procedures.
• Mentor/train junior administrators.
• Provide systems support for software developers, marketing teams.
• Provide technical assistance for planning and implementation phases of new projects.
• Assist in debugging software applications.
• Knowledge of CDN and implementation is a plus point
• Rotational Oncall Support.

Required Skills:

- Minimum 4-6 years in UNIX systems administration
- Background in Linux, and networking
- Familiar and comfortable with the following: Apache, Java, Tomcat, PHP
- Jumpstart, Kickstart, DHCP, DNS, Configuration management, monitoring tools (ie: Nagios, Muni)
- Working experience with scripting tools, Perl and or UNIX shells
- Great communication skills both written and verbal

 

Preferred Experience:

- RHEL 4 & 5
- Networking Equipment: Switches, Firewall, Routers
- Load Balancers : F5
- SAN, NAS
- UNIX related tools
- VMware
