Our Client located in Albany, NY is looking for a QA Engineer to work for a 6 months contract position.
Summary:
Work in a global team responsible for designing, building and maintaining test harnesses and software configuration management toolsets. Systems are high performance, real-time Java systems running on Linux/Windows. The ideal candidate will have a strong object oriented Java background and extensive experience using the Rational Functional Tester tool and heavy SQL experience Healthcare industry business knowledge is a plus, Pharmacy Benefits Applications is ideal.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and execute automated tests using the Rational Functional Tester (RFT), which will require programming in Java.
- Understand the role of testing within the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and business-related project constraints, and effectively advocate for the best possible customer experience of product quality within those parameters.
- Select and develop appropriate test automation tools, applying the latest techniques in test automation; e.g., data-driven testing.
- Participate in project-wide reviews of requirements, system architecture, and detailed design documents; i.e., perform manual static testing.
- Perform code reviews with development teams.
- Work with development teams to capture and reuse automated unit test cases, test stubs and drivers, and other development test objects.
- The candidate should show a familiarity with the latest testing theory and practice, a commitment to on-going learning about the field,
Qualifications:
- 5/7 years of experience with RFT tools for automation, testing and life cycle management.
- Java Development skills
- Expert level SQL skills
- Knowledge of database and performance tuning techniques.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
- Self-starter, self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Graduate or Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or an engineering discipline.
