System Engineer (Manager OR Lead)
Duration: 6 months contract to hire
Rate: DOE
Location: Richmond,VA
IN PERSON INTERVIEW IS A MUST!!!
Duties:
Evaluates, analyzes, plans, installs tests, implements, and maintains vendor software products;
Develops operational documentation;
Trouble-shoots and resolves computer software bugs and hardware problems;
Completes performance tuning for computer software and hardware;
Minimizes computer down time;
Researches and resolves technical issues by reading and comprehending technical manuals and other vendor documentation;
Assists clients in use of software and techniques;
Remains on call 24 x 7 to provide support and resolve problems for critical and assigned systems and applications;
Installs and manages all server operating systems which includes performing all related software and hardware administration functions, managing software libraries, system back-up and recovery, and maintaining data integrity;
Interacts with hardware and software vendors;
Conducts presentations as required;
Provides initial training to DIT Personnel for new functions and procedures;
Supports the design and implementation of applications;
Performs data analyses, reasons logically, interprets requirements, exercises sound judgment, makes sound decisions and develops effective solutions to complex problems;
Represents DIT in technical discussions and progress reviews with other City departments or outside agencies;
Monitors benchmarking of service costs, scope and performance results;
Documents work products via Time Accounting, Support Magic and other performance measures;
Performs preventive measures to resolve issues;
Communicates change control management;
