Role: BMC Monitoring Engineer

Location: Livingston, NJ or Fort Worth, TX

Duration: 6-12 months

Rate: Open All Inc on C2C

 

The BMC Monitoring Engineer is responsible for analysis and configuration of all BMC products in the next generation datacenter to support the monitoring and metrics associated with Service level monitoring. This person will provide all configuration information required to properly monitor the infrastructure as well as integrate entities into the monitoring environment. This position performs design, build, and configuration of advanced monitoring for fault alerting and performance data collection within a high density virtualized environment.  .

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the implementation of Enterprise Monitoring (EM) solution using BMC ProactiveNet Performance Manager (BPPM)

• Work with the customer to integrate the (EM) solution into the clients overall Enterprise solution

• Assist in managing event management process

• Assist in developing metrics reports using data collected from BPPM

• Work with functional teams to collect events from infrastructure managed devices

• Develop enhancements with BMC, developing automations in the tools, testing, analyzing reports and increasing the value of the BMC investment overall

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field

• 8 years of IT experience

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with configuration of BMC monitoring/metrics tools.

• Hands on experience and responsibilities using BMC monitoring platforms, Patrol, BPPM, and TMART

• MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel

• Knowledge of BMC Remedy, Atrium CMDB, BMC ADDM

• Basic programming or scripting skills w/High level understanding of application architecture and familiarity with .NET, ASP, SQL, COM and other development frameworks

• VMware Virtualization Experience

• Prior experience setting up BMC to monitor the following: Servers (Dell, SUN); Databases (Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server); Networks (Cisco, Juniper); Storage (NetApp)

• Basic understanding of key technologies - servers, virtualization, network, storage, mainframe, monitoring

• Ability to document, implement, test and deploy software automation solutions

• Experience with management & automation platforms such as BMC, HP, CA, etc

• Successful candidate must also have direct experience supporting application monitoring with WILY, and scripting experience using PERL or other scripting languages
