The SAN Architect will be working with LAB Teams and Project Teams to evaluate SAN design and impletmentation.
Job Description:
This position requires an in-depth knowledge of all aspects of SAN implementation and infrastructure. Job responsibilities will include storage design, implementation planning, creating storage diagrams, creating and maintaining documentation, perform design reviews, gather storage requirements, perform performance analysis and tuning/optimization, evaluate and make recommendations for infrastructure enhancements and optimizations. The SAN Architect will work the operations storage engineering team to maintain a full understanding of the requirements, limitations, and design of the production SAN environment. Armed with that knowledge, they will work with the various project and platform teams to ensure that the SAN integration for each project is in line with the requirements.
The SAN architect will act as a technical resource for integration lab teams, as well as providing consulting to platform owners and project engineering teams. As a technical resource the SAN architect will provide in-depth training sessions with the lab teams, as well as technical overview sessions with customer teams. The SAN architect will identify opportunities to improve storage infrastructure functionality, performance, reliability, scalability and management. The successful candidate will also have background in system administration focusing on UNIX/Linux.
Required Skills:
• 5 years experience EMC SAN Architect (DMX, VMAX, & VNX)
• 5 years experience Storage Networking (Cisco MDS series switches)
• Ionix ECC
• Symmetrix Management Console (SMC)
• Symmetrix Performance Analyzer (SPA)
• Storage Scope
• Knowledge of Solutions Enabler/Timefinder
• Experience with Fiber Channel connectivity and host-side I/O performance monitoring
• Experience with host side disk management such as PowerPath, Veritas Volume Manager, and Linux Volume Manager.
• Strong scripting skills using UNIX shell, PERL or other similar scripting language
• Working knowledge of NetBackup (version 6 & 7)
• Experience with FCIP and FCoE technologies would be a plus
• Knowledge of Ionix ECC would be helpful
Preferred: BS in Computer Science or other technical field
